Product Photography Tutorial - In Class Assignment:

Each student will photograph a product / still life in class following instructors directions. Tutorials will be done for groups of 6-7 students. 2 lights, one on each side, will light a product placed in a light tent.

Individually each student will do the following after my messing up all the camera settings:

They will adjust ISO to 100, Put on Aperture Priority Mode (AV icon on a Canon), and then set the aperture to the highest number F/22-32. White Balance (WB) should be set to Tungsten / Incandescent to match our lights. Drive mode should be set to 2 second self timer (to avoid camera shake). Exposure compensation (+/- icon) should be set to + 1 to compensate for our white background (so that it doesn’t turn grey).

They will next attach the camera to a tripod and frame the product as close up as possible without cropping any of it out. They will then press the shutter button to take a picture and step away from the camera to avoid camera shake. Finally they will go to playback mode and use the magnifier button to check the focus of the finished photo and show it to me.
